 An armed dog is like a spaniel. Spaniels were specifically developed to flush wildlife out of thicker cover. Spaniels specialized in water and soil breeds around the end of the 17th century. The English Water Spaniel was fired with arrows to recover water birds. Land spaniels — those who sneaked up and directed their prey to allow hunters to wrest them with spring spaniels and networks — those who jumped faeces and pertridges to hunt with foals and rabbits to hunt for greyhounds.
