Stichelhaar
The German raw Roughhaired Pointer is a medium-sized breed, and its look is quite similar to the larger German Wirehaired Pointer and the Wirehaired Pointing Griffon. The breeding standards vary between 58 and 70 cm (23 and 28 inches) with dogs ranging from 60 to 70 cm (24 to 28 inchs) and bitches ranging from 58 to 68 cm (23 and 27 in).The main difference between the breed and the German Wirehaired Pointer, the head is larger and broader, and it has hung ore and long eyebrows giving it an almost dangerous look. This is the main difference between the breed and the German wirehaired pointer. The breed is generally 37 millimeters (1,5 inches) long, hard, hard and sharp; they can be solid brown, brown roan or light roans, some with a white patch on the chest and some roan examples with brown patches in the coats.
The race is noted to be very hostile to predatory livestock and highly careful of foreigners.
history
There were many types of raw hair pointers in the early 19th century around Germany, with minimal attempts to standardize them as races. The word stichelhaireger in the race name translates as picked ears that represent this blood at some stage of the evolution of German Roughhaired Pointer's ancient German shepherd dog blood. The Roughhaired Pointer was saved by the efforts of one breeder almost extinct by the middle of the century and in the second part of the century there were significant attempts to standardize the type and it was acknowledged to be a district breed at end of the century.
