Spinone Italiano
Spinone Italiano
It is uncertain the origins of the Spinone. 250 At least on the Italian peninsular since the Renaissance, rough hair dogs of the pointer type have been present. A dog of like sort sleeps under the duke's chair, Ludovico III Gonzaga, in a picture painted by Andrea Mantegna in 1470 in the camera degli Sposi in the Palazzo Ducal in Lombardy, in northern Italy. 250 In his Le Parfait Chasseur of 1683, Jacques Espée de Sélincourt describes griffon dogs as "the best is of Piedmont and Italy."The contemporary spinone evolved in the nineteenth century in Piedmont, northwest Italy, and was for quite some time the region's largest hunting breed. 250 The partisans utilized it greatly during the Second World War to monitor adversaries as well as to provide food. 250 In 1949, the race numbers were significantly diminished after the war, and a race society, the Famiglia dello Spinone, was founded. The Fédération Cynologique Internationale finally recognized Spinone in 1955. A second race company was formed in 1973, the Club Italiano Spinoni.New registers in Italy ranged from around 400 to over 650 each year from 2010 to 2018; each year, orange and white colors were a little over half the total.
Properties
The spinone, seen from the side, is almost square in contour - the length of the body is about the same as the height at the groin. It is a robust, well-muscled and securely constructed hunting ground. It is swimming well and without hesitation enters cold or deep waters.
The cover of the head, foot and fore legs is tough, thick and flat with a little undercoat; around 4 to 6 cm long and somewhat shorter. Hair is longer and more stiff on the eyebrows and the lips, making it a thick mustache and a beard. It might be: pure white; white with orange speckles or markings; white with brown patterns of chestnut; or brunette or roan orange.
A Spinone is generally around 12 or 13 years old. 250 Cerebellar abiotrophy 308 and idiopathic epilepsy were found in the race for neurological diseases.
