Lagotto Romagnolo
Lagotto Romagnolo
The Lagotto is a species that collects water from the Comacchio and the Ravenna, Italian marshlands. Modern dog breeds of water are said to have partly come down from the Romagnolo Lagoth. The Italian dog race called Lagotto Romagnolo. It comes from the marshlands of the Po Delta in eastern Italy's Romagna sub-region. The name comes from Romagnol can lagòt, which means 'water dog.' Its historic purpose as a weapon dog, in particular, as a water collector, is now more commonly employed to hunt truffle because of the draining of wide sections of marsh habitat in its region of origin.
It was temporarily recognized in 1995, and obtained full recognition in 2005 by the Fédération Cynologique Internationale.
2207 new registrations were registered in 2018 at the Ente Nazionale della Cinofilia Italiana.
The Lagotto has a small to medium-sized appearance, seldom more than 50 cm at the withers, strongly constructed and rustic. The length of the body, more or less equal to the height, is approximately square in contour. The coat is thick, wooly, and narrowly rings. It may be whitish, or white off orange or brown, or solid orange or brown, with or without white patterns, white or brown.Usually, a lagotto lives for around 15 years. Cerebellar abiotrophy:308 and idiopathy:250 were discovered in the breed of neurological diseases.
