Cesky Fousek

 Cesky Fousek

The Český fousek is a multifunctional Czech hunting dog, traditional and now employed for hunting, pointing and finding. This refers to the inherent capacity of the dog to track, point and recover. The name comes from Czech, český meaning Czech and Fousek is derived from youy or youky (facial hair) ( whiskers). Although the term is used for both sexes, Český Fousek refers particularly to a male dog and the female is historically known as Česka Fouska. The breed forms part of the family griffon hunting dog and has wired hairs in common with the beard and moustache. The dimensions of the women and the men in this race varied greatly, with their weight

Český Fousek is an athletically constructed dog with a wiry, muscular build, a medium-sized breed with a rough coat. Their distinctive face fur is the most obvious feature about them. The silky, bushy eyebrows, moustache and beard make them so obvious. Their sunny ears hang freely on their faces, while their eyes are deep and amber or brown in the form of a lovely almond.

Dog of medium size. Male 60–66 cm in height (24–26 inches) and female 58–62 cm (23–24 inches). Men weigh 28-34 kilograms, girls weigh 22-28 kilograms, males 62-75 kg (49-62 lb).

The Český Fousek is a considerably newer adaptable wirehaired hunting dog compared to many other European or continental breeds. It was first set in writing in the 9th century and was recognized by the FCI in 1964. [3] The breed almost extinct in the 1920's was saved from the cultivation by devoted breeders, such as the German Shorthaired Pointer and the German Wirehaired Poiner, in the Czech republic. This generated issues in accepting the breed by the FCI because it was almost genetically equal to Stichelhar, as opposed by the German Kennel Club (Verband für das Deutsche Hundewesen).

This is again occurred separately in the United States in the 80s and 90's, with the Český Fousek becoming a wirehair pointing griffon. The members and two distinct clubs were formed, Cesky Fousek North America and the American Wirehaired Pointing Griffon Association.

This breed is a hunting dog capable of adapting to any kind of hunting ground and kind. Can be used to indicate upland and waterfowl game and recovery. Can be used for tracking huge games or for discovering injured people and big games where permitted by law. A fantastic family dog and a good hunting dog.
